Leave the past in the past.
As long as we LIVE in the past we are DEAD to our future. I’m a big walking dead fan. Zombies are such an interesting concept and I know I’ll irritate some religious people with this illustration but… eh. Anyways, when we live in the past we are the walking dead in our future. We are like zombies just walking through life with no vision, no foresight, no true brain activity because we are stuck. Stuck in a moment. Stuck in a hurt. Stuck in a betrayal. Stuck in bitterness, anger, revenge. Listen you can’t move forward, truly move forward, until you release the people who hurt you and the past that wants to keep you captive.
Why don’t we release? Why don’t we let go of hurts and the past? I believe it’s fear. We fear what the future might hold for us. The fear of the unknown paralyzes us if we let it. We’d rather stay in the the comfortability of our pain because we don’t know what the healing will look like. We must trust God. More specifically, the process of God. If He is truly sovereign and He is truly crazy in love with us then we must trust that we are right where we are for a reason.
It’s time to forget the past in move forward into our destiny. Our great God has a purpose and destiny that is specific for us. The only thing that will hold us back is our past if we live there.
Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, -Philippians 3:13 NKJV
