Just Stand There

by Ashley Jensen in Blog, Christianity, LIFE

Sometimes you just need to stand there.

Ephesians 6:13 NIV
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Don’t just do something, stand there. Usually we hear that the other way around…. “Don’t just stand there, do something!” I’ve come to find that in God’s kingdom everything we’ve been taught in the world is backwards; to go up, go down; to be first, be last. Similarly if we want to see something get done, in God’s perspective, do nothing. Now… doing nothing isn’t exactly the answer. This verse instructs us to get as prepared as possible with all of the heavenly tools God has given us. Once we have done everything we are supposed to do then it’s up to God to do the rest.

Sometimes we tend to step in God’s place and try to do what only He can do. I’ve learned over the years that if I do what only I can do (the natural) then God can do what only He can do (the supernatural). Our relationship with God is a partnership, sowing and reaping, action and reaction. The laws of God don’t change, if we do something positive, sowing into God’s kingdom or the lives of others, we can expect God to move on our behalf. The problem we get into is that we are trying to DO something God either never intended or it’s out of His timing for our lives.

Our biggest frustrations can be solved by just waiting and standing. In a culture of doing, we must shift to being. Just waiting on God to do what He wants to do. I know it’s hard but let’s purpose to wait. Let’s do all we can do and then… stand.
