IT and THEY

by Ashley Jensen in Blog, Christianity, COMMUNICATE

You can’t get over it. It seems to control you. It just decides to show up in your thought life whenever it wants. You wrestle with it but it keeps pinning you to the mat.

So what is it?

“IT” is that sin, hurt, habit, hang-up, regret, that thing you just wish you could borrow the Delorian from Back to The Future and change. It likes to hang on your back and get rides to new places and relationships. It actually wants to control your life and actually has the ability to… if you let IT.

So beyond the IT. We also have the THEY’s. They say you’ll never go over IT. They say once you’ve done IT, it will stay in your life forever. They say that because you’ve done IT, that you are now defined by it.

So who are the “THEY?”

We don’t know who “THEY” are and they don’t know what IT is in your life.

We seem to entertain audiences that don’t exist and beg for forgiveness for things we haven’t done.

Whatever IT is in your life. God forgives you. What THEY say doesn’t matter because they didn’t create you or your destiny.

There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. -Romans 8:1

When we find ourselves in Christ, we find ourselves forgiven and free. We find healing, love, forgiveness, and hope. Whatever you or I have done is now forgiven. We can rest in the confidence and strength of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Do we wish we’ve never done IT? Of course, but the past is the past. We can’t change it or fix it, all we can do is focus on today and live for a better tomorrow.

Don’t allow people in your life that remind you of IT or else THEY become the voice of condemnation. Sad to say that THEY also become the loudest voice in our life. We are free because Christ set us free and we are forgiven because Jesus’ work on the cross. I know that it will tick religious people off that someone can sin terribly and Jesus can pick them up and restore them. This is because typically, religious people have a punitive mentality. THEY want the “lowly sinner” to pay for their sin! The problem with this mentality is… we are all the “lowly sinner.” Jesus has made us righteous through His grace and mercy alone.

Don’t allow IT to hold you back from God’s best and don’t allow THEY to tell you otherwise! It doesn’t control you anymore and THEY don’t have a say so about IT.

Live free today friend.

BEAUTIFULLY said! Love your perspective on the ITs and THEYs in our lives. I imagine that we are all THEYs at some time in our life.

Really great word that is so true. The thing is we often find that we allow ourselves to grow into these hurts and sins in what we condemn ourselves of. These usually we find grow into HABITS, in which we are blinded to and just seem like “the way of life”. The funny thing about the word Habit is that IT is also part of it. So to remove IT from our lives, renewing and transforming our mind is the key. So if we remove the H, we’re left with A.BIT, we remove the A, we’re left with B.I.T, remove the B and we’re left with IT, and the”I” (which is ourselves thinking we are stuck in our problems) can only be removed by the “t”(THE CROSS)
Then when people find the truth in Christ, Liberty can truly be received and life can only move forward and up.
